The branch and working locations
As a Mechanical Trade Assistant you will be based from the main branch depot in Sydney (near Bankstown). However you’ll spend some of your time on the road and attending the various locations including; –
- Suppliers
- Botany port terminal
- Large manufacturing and warehouse facilities in wester Sydney
- Intermodal container handling facilities
The role and machinery
In this role you will enjoy working closely with mechanical tradespeople and becoming experienced on the companies mobile equipment fleet which includes heavy forklifts, reach stackers, cranes, integrated tool carriers and other materials handling machines. Your duties in the field will involve;-
- Branch location – 80% of your role
- Mechanical TA work, preparing machines to head to site, machine assembly work, cleaning machines, servicing, stock management including organising and ordering stock, paperwork and reporting
- On the road – 20%
- Picking up stock, assisting with trades in the field at various locations
The roster and hours
- Standard hours will be Monday to Friday from 6.00am to 3.00pm
- Regular and consistent opportunities for overtime
Your skills and experience
You will ideally come from a trade assistant background and have previous experience working with machinery/ mechanics in a similar role, however not essential. You will also have the following skills and attributes;-
- Physically fit and can work in a labour intensive physically demanding role
- A passion for mechanics and working with trades people in a team environment
- Ability to work in a team and autonomously
- Can deliver quality results with a high level of workmanship
- Highly reliable, punctual and with a strong work ethic
- Looking for a long-term permanent role and an opportunity to grow
- Keen to secure a diesel apprenticeship further down the line
- NSW manual drivers license and can drive manual vehicle
