Salary $ 80K – 85K

SGS is seeking a full time Test Engineer to join the team in Notting Hill VIC. 

Responsibillities included, but are not limited to:

  • To examine, test and calibrate road safety enforcement technology equipment and other traffic systems to determine the performance and condition of such equipment.
  • To design, develop, and maintain the tools necessary for the examination and testing of road safety enforcement technology equipment and other traffic systems.
  • To ensure that all testing and calibration is carried out in a safe, professional and ethical manner in accordance with the engineering profession.
  • To assist the Project Manager Traffic Systems in any such manner with regard to the Traffic Systems division.
  • To maintain total customer focus.
  • To test road safety enforcement technology and other traffic systems equipment in accordance with documented procedures to determine compliance with standards or client’s requirements.
  • To record details of tests, results, assessments and observations in order to have a permanent record for report compliance and reference.
  • To prepare a written report of results, assessments and observations obtained from testing for preparation of test reports in an agreed format.
  • To maintain an accurate record of the time spent testing road safety enforcement technology equipment for the inclusion in the laboratory’s monthly report and for determining the testing schedule of fees.
  • To be directly accountable for the test equipment being used.
  • To be directly accountable for the testing of road safety enforcement technology equipment in a cost effective manner to assist the Traffic Systems division achieve budget.
  • To be accountable for the safe, effective and efficient testing of road safety enforcement technology and other traffic, systems equipment to ensure a safe and healthy environment.
  • Act on opportunities to add value for clients by promoting SGS services.
  • At all times, comply with SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct.

Technical

  • To have an understanding of measurement and testing techniques relating to road safety enforcement technology and other traffic systems equipment in order to make valid measurements, observations, and assessments
  • To have an understanding of the principle used by road safety enforcement technology equipment

Communication

  • To possess technical written skills to record test results for reference and report compilation as required
  • To possess technical verbal skills to discuss test results with the supervisor
  • Have comprehension skills to be able to read and understand technical instructions and standards when conducting tested on road safety enforcement technology equipment
  • To possess report writing skills for the compilation of technical test reports
  • To possess interpersonal skills to be able to work harmoniously within the test group to facilitate co-operation and assistance

Qualification

  • Degree in Electrical Engineering or progressing towards one OR
  • An equivalent qualification
