An opportunity exists with Asset Care for a self-motivated and hands-on Technical Officer to work as an integral part of the Mechanical and Materials Testing team at our Smithfield office.

As part of this apprenticeship, you will complete a nationally recognised trade qualification Certificate III in Engineering Mechanical Trade (Fitting/Machining).

Reporting to the Operations Manager, the key duties of this position are to:

prepare test samples of varying complexity using hand tools, band saws, and linishers;
keep machines and general work area clean;
assist in testing of samples when required;
general workshop and maintenance duties;
service and maintain workshop equipment;
assist in design and manufacture of jigs and fixtures for testing purposes;
participate in continuous improvement of the machine shop and machining practices.
