In the Great Sandy Desert in the East Pilbara region of Western Australia, our Telfer gold-copper mine is our fly-in-fly-out operation, comprising open pits, processing plant and an underground mine. While at site Telfer offers a diverse range of recreational activities including a gym, swimming pool, driving range, movie room and refurbished communal eatery.
Who were looking for
As the Senior Shutdown Planner, you will be pivotal in driving effective maintenance execution during shutdowns. Your primary responsibility will be to improve safety, productivity, and work quality by anticipating and eliminating potential delays through precise planning and coordination of labor, parts, equipment access, and work pack development.
Roster: 8 days on, 6 days off.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the development of detailed shutdown plans to ensure seamless execution.
- Coordinate labor, parts, and equipment access, minimizing downtime and optimizing resources.
- Lead and mentor a team of shutdown planners, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Collaborate with various internal teams (Operations, Engineering, and Maintenance) to align maintenance activities with production schedules.
- Ensure all shutdown activities comply with Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies.
- Promote a safety-first mindset and actively participate in site safety initiatives.
- Champion the use and adherence to the Maintenance Business Process (MBP).
- Monitor ongoing maintenance programs and manage backlog to achieve KPIs and enhance efficiency.
- Identify areas for improvement in shutdown processes and implement effective solutions.
- Conduct in-field verifications to ensure the quality of maintenance activities and enhance operational practices.
About You
The ideal candidate will be a proactive, safety-conscious professional with extensive experience in shutdown planning. They will possess strong leadership and communication skills, coupled with a deep understanding of maintenance processes. Other ideal requirements include:
- Numerous years of experience in shutdown planning or a similar role within the mining or industrial sector.
- Strong leadership skills with a proven track record in team development and performance improvement.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Comprehensive understanding of maintenance processes, safety standards, and regulations.
- Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.
- SAP exposure
- C Class License
