About the role

We are currently seeking a Senior Indigenous Affairs Advisor to join our People team in our Melbourne head office located in South Bank. The Senior Indigenous Affairs Advisor will support the development of State Based Social Inclusion Strategies for VIC, NSW & QLD work winning bids as well as support the delivery and implementation of Indigenous initiatives and commitments

Key responsibilities include:

  • Explore opportunities to work with local workforce inclusion providers, and community stakeholders
  • Identify strategic opportunities for priority jobseeker cohorts tailored to geography/project need
  • Work closely with Procurement and Operations to identify opportunities for social benefit suppliers during tender phase and identify businesses with products and/or services that have potential to supply projects
  • Establish targets and reporting requirements for relevant tenders
  • Support to the delivery and implementation of Laing ORourkes RAP and alignment with Indigenous Affairs strategy
  • Coordinate and manage and implement key Indigenous initiatives, programs, partnerships and memberships
  • Coordinate and manage delivery of Cultural Awareness Training
  • Support Head of Indigenous Affairs on identifying State and Federal funding to support social inclusion programs

About you

  • Understanding of training or employment and development or work experience in a similar role within construction industry
  • Strong understanding of current Government policy and requirements specific to Social Procurement and Workforce Inclusion and
  • Experience in developing and delivering inclusive employment programs
  • Strong understanding of procurement and commercial or work experience in a similar role within construction industry
  • Strong experience in dealing with Indigenous businesses and/or social enterprises
  • You will have excellent communication and leadership skills
  • The ability to problem solve and develop creative solutions
  • Ability to work with local community groups, support services and key stakeholders
  • Ability to work within a complex Project environment
  • An understanding of policy papers, briefs, project deeds and Scope performance requirements
