Mount Isa Mines are currently seeking a qualified and skilled Refrigeration Mechanic to join the Isa Surface Operations team, Electrical & Refrigeration. This position is residentially based in Mount Isa.

The Role 

This position would report directly to the Supervisor – Refrigeration. As a qualified tradesperson you will assist in the maintenance of refrigeration systems, as well as conduct effective fault finding and repair. This position will be offered on a 4/4/4/2 off day shift only roster.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Installation, repair and maintain refrigeration systems
  • Operational inspections of Ammonia Plants and Surface Ventilation Assets
  • Responding to plant breakdowns with the ability to prioritise to effectively manage downtime to a minimum
  • Demonstrating a high standard of professional workmanship and discretionary effort at all times

You will have the following skillset and attributes:

  • Safety as a core belief with a solution seeking attitude
  • Queensland restricted electrical workers licence
  • Refrigeration Handling Licence
  • Australian manual drivers licence
  • Previous experience in heavy industry/mining refrigeration systems is an advantage
  • Experience with installation and maintenance of package refrigeration systems, split systems and water coolers is essential.
  • Experience with ammonia will be highly regarded
  • Ability to thrive on new challenges, responsibilities and be willing to acquire new skill
  • Sound understanding of workplace OH&S
