Quality Supervisor

The Quality Supervisor reports directly to the Shipping/Quality Manager and is responsible for the coordination and direction of the daily Quality Control activities.
The Quality Supervisor plays a key role in determining product conformity and fitness to marketplace and regulatory bodies.
Under the direction of the Shipping/Quality Manager, is responsible to: (1) directing/supervising activities of QC Techs, (2) executing internal/external quality programs, (3) processing/reviewing customer complaints, (4) partnering with plant production, (5) supporting ISO quality, and (6) supporting safety and regulatory programs.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: 

  • QA & QC Lab Operations: Supervise daily function of the plant labs including in process and finished goods testing.
  • Supply support and direction to lab technicians to ensure that their skills and abilities support the production and shipment of products that meet our quality specifications.
  • Work with plant management to support GMP (good manufacturing practices), Food Defense Programs, and Management of Change (MOC) program.
  • Support HACCP (hazard analysis and critical control point) program.
  • Support ISO quality system.
  • Monitor equipment, sampling, and testing procedures to ensure that data is being accurately captured and reported.
  • Familiarity with instrumentation calibration and weights & measures process for commerce.
  • Fulfill employee training and support completion of training records.
  • Analytical Materials Testing: Performs a variety of testing for materials using various testing tools and methods (e.g. MIP, AA, PSD, LOI, % moisture).
  • First Pass Quality: Supports the area of first pass quality in an effort to minimize waste and maximize plant efficiency. This includes assisting with training, process auditing and recommendations to management on best practices.
  • Determine Product Disposition: work with production, shipping, and QC techs for timely evaluations and determination of conformance; and work with Data Management systems for records.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND SKILLS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (mechanical, mining, or chemical preferred), science, or equivalent in experience required.
  • 3 years in a Quality Control environment, or related experience.
  • Good computer skills, particularly Microsoft Office Excel, Word, Power Point, and ERP applications.
  • Knowledge of quality systems equipment and plant operations.
  • Work with a high degree of autonomy in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Reasoning Ability: Better than average written and spoken communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills (relationship building, team leadership).
