THE ROLE
Applications are sought from experienced Underground Project Geologists to join the team at Ora Banda.
The responsibilities of this role will include:
- Support the underground geology team, including coverage for the Senior Mine Geologist and Mine Geologists as required
- Perform project related activities including focussed analysis, geological mapping, plan and section interpretations, wireframing, and estimations/modelling to improve the knowledge of the geology
- Delivery of quality Grade Control models for mine planning as per the mine schedule
- Wall and backs mapping all capital development and ore development, to ensure regulatory compliance, monitor geotechnical conditions, and build the knowledge base of the deposit.
- Assist with ensuring all Ore development faces are mapped and sampled, information used for development of 3D geological models
- Assist with ensuring (along with the Engineering and Mining teams), the best possible stope designs to maximise recovery, minimise dilution, and compilation of quality Stope Notes
- Ensure all ore development faces are adequately marked up for the Mining team,
- Assist in planning, scheduling, and supervision of grade control drilling programs
- Assisting with the maintenance and implementation of QA/QC procedures in the areas of data collection, sampling, sample preparation and production data
- Assist with engineering/planning and surveying requirements
- Continuously increase the knowledge of site geology through detailed geological interpretation and data analysis focusing on mineralisation controls
- Seek opportunities for growth through Resource Development drill programs which increase the life of mine.
- Co-ordinate the underground drill sites for upcoming drilling programs and supervise drilling/mining contractors where applicable
- Written documentation of key findings and subsequent recommendations of completed drill programs.
- Produce high quality geological logging of diamond core, and plan/section interpretation
- Contribute to high quality technical reporting in the compilation of daily grade reports, weekly and monthly reports, and assist with analysis of reconciliation trends
- Training and mentoring of Mine Geologists and Graduate Geologists
ABOUT YOU
To be considered for the role, you will have the following qualifications, skills and experience:
- Bachelor of Science in Geology or equivalent
- Minimum 3-5 years mine geology experience (underground, gold) and recent project geology experience
- Member AusIMM or similar
- JORC training and knowledge of requirements
- Skilled in mining software Micromine, Leapfrog, Geobank
- Exposure to current grade control technologies and practices
- Excellent time management to achieve project outcomes
- Demonstrable team working skills
- Good communication skills
- Awareness of the Mine Safety and Inspection Act & Regulations
- ERT experience and willingness to join OBMs ERT is preferred
- Class C WA manual drivers licence
