Project Overview:

Bechtel Mining and Metals offers engineering, procurement, and construction services for customers in the mining sector across multiple commodities including Iron Ore, Bauxite, Alumina, Aluminium, Copper, Gold, Coal, Lithium and Rare Earths markets.

Headquartered in Santiago, Chile, the M&M global business unit also has offices in Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide in Australia along with execution units in the United States, Peru, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, India and other project locations around the world.

Job Summary:

As Procurement Manager, you will manage project procurement personnel in all operations for a project.

You will participate with the project management team in defining and developing the scope of work, and in preparing and coordinating procurement plans, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets.

You will ensure procurement operations comply with corporate, business unit and project requirements. 

This position is designated as part-time telework per our global telework policy and may require at least three days of in-person attendance per week at the assigned office or project. Weekly in-person schedules will be determined by the individual and their supervisor, in consultation with functional or project leadership.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Participates with the project team on a large project in defining and developing the scope of Procurement work, and in preparing and coordinating Procurement plans, procedures, schedules, estimates, forecasts, and budgets
  • Contributes Procurement input to the preparation and/or modifications of the projects prime contract
  • Prepares and/or directs preparation of commercial terms and conditions for use on all project purchase documents, ensuring that requirements of the prime contract are incorporated
  • When assigned by the global business unit Manager of Supply Chain, prepares, coordinates, and submits Procurement input to business development proposals, soliciting input from global business unit and Corporate Procurement personnel as necessary
  • Develops, coordinates, and makes Procurement presentations to project and/or Customer personnel
  • Prepares or directs preparation of the project Procurement procedures in conjunction with global business unit and Corporate functional management; contributes to the project procedures; monitors the Procurement teams implementation of the project procedures; revises procedures and secures approvals as necessary
  • Other responsibilities as designated.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Requires bachelor’s or master’s degree (or international equivalent) and years of relevant experience or years of relevant work experience.
  • Global experience in project procurement management i.e., purchasing, expediting, supplier quality, materials management, logistics, and field procurement operations
  • Experience and thorough understanding of Procurement operations at both office and at jobsite locations.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in leading teams including interviewing, hiring, training, development, performance evaluation, career counselling, salary administration, and knowledge of personnel procedures and policy.
  • Thorough understanding of planning, scheduling and cost control functions and the interface with Procurement.
