Mechanical Technician

The Opportunity:

Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisor, the Mechanical Technician is responsible for all Fixed Plant Maintenance and assist the Mechanical Leading Hands in an area of trade expertise with allocation and monitoring of daily activities of Technicians.  To complete equipment repairs and maintenance to a high standard and to ensure the production plant and utilities operate achieving safe, reliable production within approved budgets.

This is a permanent position, with an 8/6-7/7 roster based at our Pilgangoora Operation.

Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Completion of daily mechanical maintenance activities to achieve the maintenance plan as directed by the Mechanical Supervisor.
  • Troubleshoot machine components to determine causes of failures when required, including gathering of failure evidence for later analysis.
  • Ensure all work orders are completed properly to a consistent high quality in PRONTO.
  • Provide information and experience to assistants in their duties.
  • Participate in special projects whenever required.
  • Maintain punctuality at all times.
  • Ensure parts are used properly within the work order task descriptions as intended.
  • Ensure all unused parts are returned for credit and placed immediately back to stores warehouse.
  • Ensure that on completion of repair, all parts removed are cleaned and tagged with information tags noting the associated work order details.
  • Ensure all company tools are returned to the proper area (e.g. tool cabinets, tool storage areas) after use on a daily basis.
  • Ensure that the surrounding work area and workshops are maintained in a clean and safe state.
  • Raise improvement opportunity ideas with Mechanical Supervisor or Maintenance & Engineering Manager.

About you:

  • Certificate III Engineering Mechanical Fitter (Fixed Plant and must be Australian recognised).
  • Fixed plant experience in a mine processing plant environment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work well in a team in remote areas.
  • Strong commitment towards safety and quality.
  • Motivated and hard working with a professional attitude.
  • Supervisor / Leading Hand Fixed Plant maintenance experience in a mining processing plant environment (minimum expectation of 3-5years).
  • Excellent troubleshooting and diagnostic skills
  • Ability to work well in a team in remote areas.
  • Strong commitment towards safety and quality.
  • Root Cause Analysis experience.
  • PRONTO experience and MS Office skills highly regarded.
  • Current WA Drivers licence.
  • Willingness to undertake a full site medical and provide a current National Police Clearance
