About North East Link 
The Spark Consortium has been selected to deliver the Central Package of the North East Link Project – Victoria’s biggest road project.

The Spark Consortiums Design and Construction Contractor – which comprises Webuild, CPB Contractors, GS Engineering and Construction and China Construction Oceania – will deliver the twin three-lane tunnels and key interchanges for the project.

The Central Package will be delivered as a Public Private Partnership and provides three-lane twin tunnels that will close the missing link in Melbournes freeway network from the M80 Ring Road to an upgraded Eastern Freeway, reducing journey times and diverting heavy vehicles away from local roads. Up to 135,000 vehicles will use North East Link every day, reducing congestion in the north-east while maintaining local roads. 

About the Opportunity  

We are looking for an experienced Mechanical Site Engineer to join our Plant team on this iconic project. The purpose of this role is to provide onsite engineering services and technical support to ensure short term planning and programming of works is completed in conjunction with the site supervision staff.

In addition, you will be responsible for the following responsibilities:

  • Development and management of daily cost reporting
  • To provide on-site engineering support to assist in the achievement of the required objectives of the project.
  • Monitoring key construction requirements and implementing prompt corrective action if required, to ensure they are achievedin line with agreed specifications.
  • Implement and communicate risk controls and actions involved in delivery and implementation of projects.
  • Undertake qualitative and quantitative safety, environment, and quality risk assessment to ensure acceptable quality of structure and finishes.
  • Demonstrate skills in reporting on project performance, compliance, and defects and/or non-conformance.
  • Demonstrate people management skills by being able to manage work and performance of teams and subcontractors to achieve project outcomes.
  • Knowledge of tunnel underground construction practices

 Minimum requirements for this role are:  

  • 1-3 years experience in relevant discipline
  • Experience on Tier 1 projects is desirable
  • Wide level of planning, development and review of projects
  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
  • Skills in relevant computer software packages; Microsoft Suite etc. are essential.
