Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world.  In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in North West Queensland and Western Australia.

We have an exciting opportunity for a safety-focused Electrical Supervisor CHPP to join our team at Capcoal CHPP in Middlemount QLD.

Reporting to the Electrical Superintendent, this role will be accountable for managing the coordination of personnel, equipment, and resources to complete electrical maintenance activities within the CHPP.

The Electrical Supervisor CHPP will ensure scheduled and unscheduled maintenance is completed in line with safety and statutory obligations and will achieve this through active engagement, effective leadership and compliance to our Operating Model.

To be successful in this role you must have a strong understanding of fixed plan operations, ideally coal handling processes, specifically including CHPP Processing plant delivery systems, product handling and train load out systems with an understanding of power line infrastructure.

A basic understanding of mining techniques is desired as well as experience within the open cut coal mining environment and a clear understanding of statutory requirements.

  • Electrical Trade Qualification Qld Electrical License
  • LV/CPR
  • S1,2,3 & G2
  • Experience within a mining Fixed Plant Operation, including crushing, dry & wet screening plants
  • Experience troubleshooting crushing, conveying and hydraulic systems
  • Working knowledge of SAP
  • Experience with PLC specifically Allen Bradley and Citect,
  • Knowledge of relevant mining legislation and statutory document storage
  • Demonstrated ability to approach work with a ‘can do attitude’ and work well within a team to achieve combined success
  • Demonstrated experience leading and developing teams
