About the role

We are on the lookout for a LV Mechanic/Fitter, a full-time permanent role, who will be responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance activities at an Orica Digital Solutions mine site on a FIFO roster working 8 days on 6 days off.

The LV Mechanic/Fitter will be involved in troubleshooting complex issues, implementing preventive maintenance programs, and ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards. 

This role may include managing a team of maintenance personnel as the segment evolves, scheduling and coordinating maintenance tasks, and ensuring that all equipment and systems are functioning efficiently and safely. 

What you will be doing

  • Oversee routine maintenance activities, including inspections, repairs, and servicing of equipment and facilities;
  • Diagnose mechanical and electrical problems using diagnostic tools and equipment;
  • Use computerized diagnostic equipment to identify vehicle issues;
  • Maintain clear and effective communication with all stakeholders, including internal teams;
  • Provide regular updates and reports on vehicle/equipment repair status and performance;
  • Works as a team with operations and maintenance management in overall maintenance strategies and delivery;
  • Improves overall regional maintenance by reducing Vehicle Off Road (VOR) while at the same time ensuring vehicle/equipment reliability;
  • Provide guidance and support to ensure high-quality work and efficient operations.

What you will bring

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a qualified LV/HV mechanic. (Requirement);
  • Extensive exposure to electrical repairs and fault finding;
  • Experience on mine sites. (Requirement);
  • Exposure to new technologies e.g. new generation and electric vehicles (Highly regarded);
  • Strong commitment to safety and compliance, with a demonstrated ability to enforce protocols and promote a culture of safety awareness;
  • Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities, with a focus on continuous improvement and operational excellence;
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic tools, repair manuals, and maintenance management software. The Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously;
  • Australian Certification in LV/HV (Requirement).
