The Opportunity

Our Laboratory Operations Manager will work with our key strategic and technical leaders to efficiently manage the operations of our state-of-the-art, NATA-accredited laboratory in Hazelmere, Perth. You will oversee the direction, training and development of day-to-day operations of our laboratory and field staff.

As a laboratory manager of a NATA-accredited facility, you will need to maintain certifications and potentially acquire new accreditations for new or refined testing methods. The key responsibilities of this role include;

  • Day-to-day management of the laboratory including organisation and delegation of field and laboratory work.
  • Coordinate and manage workflows to maximise the use of laboratory time and resources.
  • Accurately update, prepare and report data to generate Certificates and Reports, including NATA-certified /endorsed results.
  • Prepare, implement, maintain, review and continuously improve technical services operational policies, procedures and processes.
  • Oversee the management of testing procedures to ensure they are in accordance with Australian standards and or NATA requirements.
  • Ensure that quality control testing and compliance with the laboratory operations, management and legislative requirements (particularly Testing Practices, LQM and ISO/IEC ).
  • Manage Quality Systems and Quality Assurance documentation.
  • Setting and managing staff KPIs and ensuring critical deadline are met.
  • Management of staff members, including coordinating with human resources on staff matters, recruitment and onboarding, identification and facilitation of staff training and development needs.
  • Promote and champion a harmonious team culture that represents the BGC values (The BGC Way).

About You

  • Minimum BSc Degree and/or Diploma in Laboratory Management or substantial experience in relevant field of Materials Testing and Engineering.
  • Experience in field and laboratory construction materials testing.
  • Strong time management skills and ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and LIMS systems
  • NATA signatory Level 5
  • White Card
  • Current Drivers Licence
