Engineer, Digital – TasWater

The purpose of the TasWater Capital Delivery Office (CDO) is to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of quality capital works projects for TasWater that will meet the needs of TasWaters business, their stakeholders and the communities of Tasmania for years to come. The TasWater CDO manages the TasWater Capital Works Program from inception to completion including the planning, design, procurement, and delivery phases.

We are proud of our great team here at TasWater (CDO) and we are on the lookout for a Digital Engineer to assist on our Selfs Point Sewer Transformation Project.

As part of TasWaters commitment to investing in new and improved sewerage infrastructure to cater for Hobarts future growth, we are delivering one of our most significant projects to date.

This project combines the following 4 separate, but interconnected projects:

  • Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant upgrade, near New Town Bay
  • Macquarie Point to Selfs Point pipeline
  • New Macquarie Point Sewage Pump Station; and
  • Decommissioning of the existing Macquarie Point Sewage Treatment Plant.

The existing Selfs Point Sewage Treatment Plant was built in to support the treatment of Hobarts wastewater. The plant currently treats around nine megalitres of wastewater from Hobart suburbs including Lenah Valley, New Town, Mount Stuart, Sandy Bay, Dynnyrne, Tolmans Hill, Mount Nelson, and Taroona. Thats approximately 110,000 average baths a day!

Taswater is looking for digital savvy people to join the project team. We are open to people with various levels of experience people who have knowledge of digital engineering processes and tools.

This exciting role is a fixed term (June ) full-time position and is based in Hobart.

Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Development of virtual 4D design and construction for the program
  • Coordinating weekly and monthly updates with key engineering inputs
  • Weekly and monthly interdisciplinary and stakeholder co-ordination
  • Assistance to and support engineers with virtual design reviews
  • Managing models through ToBe Builder, BIM360, ProjectWise, Ineight etc
  • Assist engineers & the project team with model exports and 3rd party model imports
  • DE/BIM Coordinator activities including the audit, review and coordination of model information for alliance specific precincts and or disciplines
  • Implementing the project specific standards set by the BIM Manager and work with the BIM Manager to define the Digital Engineering Plan including any applicable protocols/manuals.
  • Model validation checks, coordination reviews and liaise with Sub Consultants or Trades.
  • Supporting the deployment of field data management system, review validity of information collected against information deliverables.
  • Ensure that data exchange protocols are adhered to by the project team and liaise with design team manager on compliance issues.
  • Identify and keep record of BIM specific lessons learnt throughout the project.

Desired Qualifications and Experience

  • Tertiary qualification in Engineering
  • Familiarity with the following software Navisworks, Revit, Civil 3D, Plant 3D
  • Technical skills in range of BIM technology
  • Experience using parametric 3D design tools
  • Familiarity in the application of 4D and 5D
  • Proficiency in model federation
  • Know-how of clash detection and issue resolution utilising a model
  • Capability in design delivery on large scale projects
  • Proficient use of Digital Engineering technologies
  • Ability to develop Power Bi dashboards for project insights
  • Understanding and implementation of ISO principles
  • Strong understanding of common data environments including ACC and ProjectWise
