We have an exciting opportunity for a Diesel Mechanic to assist our Mount Gambier Operations.
ABOUT THE ROLE
The primary purpose of the Diesel Mechanic is to inspect, service, and repair Qube mobile machinery and ancillary equipment

Specific Responsibilities
- Ensure a high level of productivity is maintained and an on time in full work ethic is adhered to at all times
- Perform mechanical and other Workshop Duties as directed by the Workshop Supervisor Leading Hand
- Assist in training and or supervise Apprentices as required
- Ensure the workplace is kept clean, all tools are put away on completion of the job and all workplace health and safety, environmental and quality management requirements are met
- Present for work in a clean and tidy manner, and ensure clocking on and clocking off between all assigned tasks where applicable
- Ensure Work Orders are obtained before commencing work on equipment
- Ensure that all parts required to complete the job are assessed and identified for ordering and they are available so unnecessary delays are not incurred
- Undertake through diagnose processes on mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.
- Communicate with operators to understand and document faults, research & test to confirm & report
- Safely & efficiently, strip, clean, inspect, replace, reassemble, test and confirm effective repairs and release assets back into service
- Accurately record fleet number, make, model and hours/Kms and book labour time and parts against the asset
- Ensure Slams are fully completed daily via the use of the Take 5 card. All personnel are required to carry a Slam booklet to ensure consistent use of the process. Where an SWI exists, the Slam is to be used to validate the procedure will effectively manage the hazards.
- Personal danger locks are to be affixed at all times whilst works are being carried out on ALL vehicles. Only at the completion of the work are Personal Danger Locks to be removed by the person who affixed the lock
- Qube 7 Safety Keys and SWI Safe Working Instructions must be adhered to at all times.
- Obey road safety rules and all other site/s requirements
- Immediately report any incident or accident to the Workshop Supervisor
Qualifications and Experience
- Heavy Rigid licence
- AUR Cert III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology
- Heavy on road transport mechanic trade certificate – Fleet Maintenance
- Sound interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate with a variety of people
- Sound skills using Microsoft Office, Excel and Power point
- Ability to work autonomously using proactive approach to task resolution
- A High-Risk Forklift Licence
- Senior First Aid Certificate
- Competent Heavy Diesel Fitter fault-finding skills
- Knowledge and understanding of applicable Govt/State Safety and Environmental legislation and standards
Key Competencies/Skills
- A reasonable level of physical fitness
- Attention to detail with good hand eye co-ordination
- Strong communication skills including effective listening skills
- Flexible and adaptable with the ability to work effectively in a demanding environment
- Ability to work autonomously using a proactive approach to task resolution
