Work Location: Fortescues Hedland Operations – Fortescues Hedland Operations are located on the traditional lands of the Kariyarra people
Roster: 8D/6R FIFO ex Perth or Residential in Port Hedland
We are currently seeking a motivated and experienced Control Systems Engineer to join our Port Hedland Operations. Reporting to the Superintendent Process Control, the role is to provide support and assist with fault finding activities within the Rail Rolling Stock Maintenance space, focusing on the Ore Car Workshop located at our Thomas Yard facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Practice – anticipate & proactively resolve potential problems to ensure a zero-harm environment through design/ formulation of technical solutions
- Liaise with relevant departments to provide technical solutions for operational support and projects
- Build co-operative relationships to design new equipment and/or systems in conjunction with internal & external experts
- Design and develop new control systems including testing, maintaining and modifying existing systems to ensure optimal utilisation
- Technical Knowledge continue to develop processing & process control knowledge & skills to deliver continuous business improvements
- Design and implement purposeful improvement ideas based on detailed examination of anticipated or recurring problems of a process control nature
- Commissioning of drives, instrumentation, and miscellaneous field devices
- Support the ongoing maintenance of control systems assets including PLCs, servers, network and communication equipment and field devices
Qualifications and Experience
- Tertiary Qualifications in Engineering (Electrical, Mechatronic or similar)
- Minimum 3 years experience as a control system engineer
- Working knowledge of engineering design and operation principles applicable to the fields of electrical and instrumentation engineering
- Excellent problem-solving skills and continual improvement focus
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience with Siemens PLC and SCADA (Step 7, WinCC, TIA Portal) (Essential)
- Experience with Industrial communication protocol (Profibus, Profinet, Modbus) (Essential)
- Experience with Sinumerik CNC programming (Highly Desirable)
- Experience with VSD and Servo motors (Highly Desirable)
- Strong computer literacy. Programming knowledge in SQL or other languages (Desirable)
- TUV Functional Safety Certified Engineer (Desirable)
- Previous experience working within the manufacturing industry (Desirable)
