Join the SGS team in Toowoomba, QLD, as a full-time CNC Machinist. In this role, you’ll be responsible for performing senior machining duties on CNC or manually controlled machines, ensuring precision and quality in every task, along with supervisory responsibilities
Your key responsibilities in this role will include but are not limited to:
- Carry out machining as per engineering drawing and/or instruction.
- Undertake shift work to meet the needs of the operations.
- Report machine and infrastructure faults and equipment problems.
- Complete product, repair and inspection documentation in accordance with our Quality Management System and corporate policies.
- Ensure compliance with all standard operating procedures and safe work practices across our operating centres.
- Highlight to management any conflicts between operational procedures and our safety mandate.
- Maintain and create accurate records on a daily basis.
- Accurate completion of job/time/clocking cards is essential.
- Complete month end and invoicing responsibilities.
- Establish and maintain excellent communication, contact and team work with customers, suppliers and staff.
- Controlling of stock and steel.
- Assistance if required in performing fitting, maintenance, and general hand duties.
- Care, maintenance and organisation of company gauges and measuring equipment.
- Undertake training – upskilling to provide client required services.
- Good communication skills (written and verbal) with the ability to interact with customers, suppliers and employees.
- Familiarity with manufacturing excellence, including modern techniques based on lean manufacturing, 5S, waste elimination and visual communication.
- Understand the difference between grades of steel and their machining characteristics
- Previous experience in a supervisory or managerial position.
- Previous experience with the operation of manual metal working machinery in a customer focused manufacturing environment (at least 5 years)
- Previous experience with the operation and programming of metal working machinery in a customer focused manufacturing environment is essential (at least 5 years)
- A current and appropriate Trade Certificate.
- Possess current relevant licences including forklift and large wheeled loader etc.
- Understand the operation of manual and computer controlled turning and milling equipment.
- Must possess all appropriate current licences, as required by the company, and where reasonably practicable, to drive and/or operate company vehicles, plant or equipment (forklift licence), relevant to this position.
- Physical fitness appropriate to the role.
