Steelmaking coal is an essential ingredient in blast-furnace steel manufacture, producing steel used for critical building and infrastructure around the world. In Australia, we operate five steelmaking coal mines in Queensland’s Bowen Basin, and have additional joint venture interests in steelmaking coal and manganese, as well as copper exploration projects underway in Northwest Queensland and Western Australia.

Dawson is located at the southern end of the Bowen Basin in Central Queensland, being just over a 2hrs drive west from either Rockhampton or Gladstone, or 4.5hrs drive north of the Darling Downs or South Burnett.

Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor, the Belt Technician is accountable for completing mechanical maintenance functions (Predominantly belt splicing and general conveyor maintenance) within the Coal Handling Preparation Plant (CHPP).

It is essential for the incumbent to demonstrate prior experience and/or knowledge in the following:

Trade Qualification – Belt Splicing.
Previous exposure to coal handling plants preferred.
Conveyor belt splicing.
Conveyor maintenance.
Safety systems.
Computer literacy.
