The role
This role is to support our Mining Applications team in helping strategic customers achieve best practices in safety, cost, and productivity through SMR Equipment, Digital offerings, and support services. This role involves assisting with the specification, design, implementation, and optimization of digital technologies and systems, as well as providing transformation and change management support.
The successful candidate will develop expertise in supporting Sales with mining methods and machine applications while serving as a key liaison between Sandvik and mining consultants, contributing to feasibility and optimization studies.
Areas of responsibility
- Develop and apply theoretical knowledge of the mining industry, including end-to-end processes from concept to mine closure, in Mining Applications Engineering Studies.
- Gain familiarity with Sandvik’s equipment, digital solutions, and product services portfolio, and apply this knowledge to match customer processes.
- Understand commodities mined in Australia, New Zealand, and PNG, and support Mining Applications Engineering Studies with insights into customer operations and applications.
- Learn and utilize mine planning tools and customer mine design/planning applications in Mining Applications Engineering Studies.
- Engage in surface and underground mine familiarization at customer sites, attending inductions to understand safety and industry standards.
- Conduct user requirement specifications, needs analyses, and readiness studies/audits for customers.
- Develop basic knowledge of jurisdictional legislative frameworks and compliance requirements.
- Assist with digital mine design and operating concept reviews.
- Quantify equipment and solution value through trade-off studies, fleet optimization, production modeling, and value-selling practices.
- Provide feedback on Sandvik’s product offerings and new product development.
- Optimize mining processes and equipment utilization, leveraging My Sandvik data for fleet insights.
- Conduct fleet replacement studies and detailed production and cost modeling for equipment lifecycle and optimization.
- Become familiar with tools such as Deswik Scheduling and Deswik CAD for life-of-mine scheduling and mine layout optimization.
- Participate in benchmarking, best-practice knowledge sharing, and industry marketing efforts.
- Collaborate with internal and external teams to deliver project outcomes and present findings through business reports and presentations.
- Facilitate workshops and visits to showcase best practices between customers and benchmark sites.
- Manage projects with a focus on time, cost, scope, and quality.
- Support Sandvik product applications from concept to delivery.
Your profile
We are seeking a highly motivated professional with strong presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. The ideal candidate will be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, and Visio), PowerBI, and have expertise in data mining and analytics. You will demonstrate strong analytical abilities, effective time management, and organizational skills, coupled with excellent interpersonal skills and the capacity to work independently or as part of a team. A high level of initiative and determination to achieve goals is essential. A degree in Engineering relevant to industrial processes and a minimum of 2 years of experience in mining or heavy industry is required. The role also demands expertise in data-driven decision-making, project management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
